Join as an Expert Fellow or Consultant

The VIRAT initiative seeks experts who possess substantial expertise and experience as researchers, public policy professionals, or development consultants within its designated thematic areas. Prospective fellows are required to demonstrate a profound commitment to social causes and adopt evidence-based approaches in driving policy or programmatic transformation. Fellows must be capable of executing assignments independently, serving as a consultant, mentor, or lead, with requisite support from VIRAT, or significantly contributing to VIRAT's expected outcomes.

Why VIRAT expert engagement?
  • Association with VIRAT's projects and initiatives: Empanelled Expert Fellows will serve as expert consultants, extending their services to deliver integral and sustained outcomes to stakeholders. Opportunities for directing/ advising/ volunteering in the CSR and Development projects.
  • Expected Contributions: Consultant fellows are expected to contribute to a range of activities, including research projects, capacity building initiatives, policy engagement, and academic pursuits.
  • Project-Specific Roles: They may undertake other projects of mutual interest and fulfil specific roles and functions detailed in a project-specific Terms of Reference (ToR) when necessary.
  • Duration of Engagement: The initial duration is twenty-four (24) months, commencing from the date of the signing of the ToR.
  • Basis of Collaboration: The consultant will collaborate with VIRAT on a freelance and pro bono basis.
  • Extension: Following the initial period, the engagement may be extended based upon the mutual consensus of both parties.
    • Opportunities to work on ongoing projects or initiate new ones as per mutual consensus
    • Utilize VIRAT's platform to apply for new projects or to collaborate either independently or with the consultant's present organization

Eligibility

1. Visiting Fellow:

These positions are designed to facilitate temporary, collaborative research with experts from partner institutions, enabling the execution of projects, capacity building, knowledge exchange, and mutual benefit.

2. Distinguished Fellow:

This is the highest-profile engagement, reserved exclusively for individuals who possess exceptional, high-level experience as a Corporate Partner or government official, and whose counsel is indispensable for high-impact policy engagement and strategic direction.

3. Honorary Fellow:

This formal association connects VIRAT with exceptional individuals whose distinction enhances the credibility of the organization through their significant contributions to societal wellbeing, intellectual discourse, grassroots initiatives, and the widespread recognition and prestige they have attained. The Honorary Fellows are positioned to offer invaluable mentorship.

4. Consultant:

This engagement is exclusive for individuals possessing substantial expertise and experience within VIRAT's thematic areas. Prospective fellows are required to demonstrate a profound commitment to social causes and adopt evidence-based approaches in driving policy or programmatic transformation. Fellows must be capable of executing assignments independently, serving as a consultant, mentor, or lead, with requisite support from VIRAT, or significantly contributing to VIRAT's expected outcomes.

Please note: This is not a full-time role
